Red Cross Blood Drive
From 11:00AM to 7:00PM, The American Red Cross is setting appointments for blood donors to come in and share their gift of...life.
We all see Blood Drive signs, notices, flyers, postings at churches, community buildings, etc. Sure, many folks have donated blood at some point in their lives. And a few donate regularly.
The statistics are that only 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood – less than 10 percent do annually.
But here’s the twist: Someone needs blood every two seconds. About 1 in 7 people entering a hospital need blood. 42 days is how long most donated red blood cells can be stored. That means there’s ALWAYS a demand.
Have you ever been in a car wreck? A bicycle crash? Needed to have an emergency operation of any kind? Know someone who did? Guess what? It’s those few that donate blood that helped you or the ones you know and care about the most.
Please give this careful consideration. You can easily become one of those few that are actually part of the solution.
Don’t know what blood type you are? Your doctor could run a blood test for you and tell you. Then you get a bill for it. OR, you could donate blood and they’ll tell you for FREE!
Not donating because you're afraid you’ll catch some kind of infection? You cannot get AIDS or any other infectious disease by donating blood. Afraid of needles? Close your EYES!
Seriously folks, this is a great opportunity to make a tremendous impact! In fact, it’s the BIGGEST impact you could ever imagine… saving a life. Maybe even more than one, because EACH pint of blood can be used to help up to THREE people!
Life has no guarantees. Let’s just help a few folks extend their warranties a bit. Remember, you never know who it might be. Thank you for giving this careful thought and consideration. -
